I have After Dark bookmarks … want one?
I have 10 bookmarks to give away!
10!
Woohoo!
And they are ALLLL signed.
How can YOU get one of these?
Well … it’s really easy.
All you have to do is read this answer the following question.
Mac is not a conformist — as you will learn when you read After Dark. She’s her own clique if you will and if I even told her she was her own clique, she’d probably punch me. Well … when *I* was in high school, there was a club that everyone wanted to be in. Rather, I say ‘everyone’ but I didn’t want to because I felt (and this was 100% perception) that the people inside it were ALL cliquey. Yes … they were. So much so that one of the interview questions that was asked was this:
“If you were a tree, what tree would you be?”
Well … I gotta tell you … I wasn’t a tree, I wasn’t going to BE a tree and I’m still … as of now … NOT a tree!
What the heck kind of question is that in an interview to join a SERVICE CLUB?
Did they think my being an oak would allow me to serve the poor or disadvantaged better? or perhaps a Willow with its windy arms and branches?
Clearly, I have issues if 20 years later, THIS is a topic I still think about.
So … today, I’m going to play the clique-game and ask one pointed question. The best 10 answers get a signed bookmark!
If someone asked you this question, “If you were a tree, what tree would you be?” how would you respond?

I would be a birch or a poplar. Poplar is beautiful big tree and I love birch´s white bark! (:
Thank you soo much for this awesome giveaway. These bookmarks are wonderful – and signed = YAY!!! (:
Yup! Signed!
I would be a willow tree! They’re flexible and rarely break… plus their leaves can be used to ease pain, and branches for weaving/building things! Also, they’re kind of a wonderful place to have picnics under, and I’d love to watch families if I was stuck there.
I love willows.
They are the dancers of the tree world.
At first I thought how much I would like to be a willow. They are so beautiful, light, airy and graceful. Upon second thought, however, I believe I’d want to be a redwood. They are the biggest, strongest, and most resilient trees ever. They’ve seen a lot and persevered. They are ancient and wise spirits of the earth with roots firmly planted in the ground, but always reaching for the sky. They provide a safe haven for all creatures of the earth and sky. They are ‘spiritual parents’ of the earth, providing food, shelter and warmth to those of lesser stature. The branches are ever embracing and the trees are symbols of strength and unwavering love. They are awe-inspiring and larger than life. Tough. Respected. One can’t help but feel the presence of God when standing beside one of these magnificent trees. As a mom, how could I choose anything other than a redwood?
Oh yeah, redwoods. Awesome.
A silver Birch as they are very unusual and unique and native to the British isles. Apparently witches brooms used to be made from the silver birch tree too!
Oooh … now I want a broom just to see!
I would be a sleeping tree.
Of course at this moment in time I wouldn’t mind being a tree every once in a while, because trees can’t drive and no one really expects much from a tree….
(sorry having issues this morning with people)
A sleeping tree? LOL
oh and the bookmarks are really lovely. Thanks for the chance to own one!
Thank you!
If I had to answer I would pick a Redwood. Redwoods are strong, and tall, and they live for hundreds if not thousands of years. Imagine what you could see in a thousand years!! Thank you for the giveaway!!
That strength seems to be a theme! Love it!
I wish I could say I would be a Oak tree for its symbolism of strength and courage, but the tree that I would connect most would be a Beech tree for tolerance and wisdom. And this specific tree produces edible nuts and its timber is useful (and I like being useful) ^_^
A tree with all sorts of valuable services!
If I were a tree, I’d be some really kick-ass tree watered with some super-genius formula that’d make me grow golden apples. That’d be really cool, if not lame
You’d be the spiderman of trees then?
Yup, something like that ;D
I’d be a willow tree, it’s always been my favorite. Thanks for the chance to win!
Welcome!
dogwood-but really don’t know why? it popped into my head 1st. I like the flowers.
Although the huge magnolia in our front yard is pretty cool too, especially when your kids are eye level with your 2 story window! They aren’t “suppose” to climb any higher than that. haha
PS -I must have the book mark to add to my growing collection
LOL You’re too funny, Wendy! Oh and Dogwoods fit our locale, that’s for sure!
Definitely a weeping willow tree. I love the dainty, cool, shady look of them and they are my favorite place to spread a blanket and read.
A beautiful spot, no doubt!
I would be a Japanese Cherry. Everytime someone would look at my beautiful Cherry Blossoms they’d be going ‘Ooooooh’ and ‘Ahhhhhhh’. Plus I’d probably be situated in a gorgeous garden (fingers crossed) and would have pretty views
Ooh, pretty! I LOVE cherry trees. Their spring blooms are amazing!
HA! What a weird question to be asked!! Without thinking about it too much, I would probably be a weeping willow. They are beautiful and wispy, but sad too. And they’re by water – and I like the calming effect water has. It sounds like me as a tree (I guess?) Thanks for the giveaway! I can’t wait to read After Dark!!
Isn’t it just?
I would be a Banyan tree because it’s so huge and beautiful. It gives lots of shade to homeless people especially during the scorching summer heat. And also this tree has lots of significance in Indian mythology as most of the enlightened and brain-y people sat under this tree for meditation.
That’s a unique pick! Love it!
Definitely a baobab tree. Tall, eerie-looking, a “storyteller” and takes 100 years to fruit…but when it finally does, the fruit is huge and amazing, and it’s a really big shame to cut it down.
Thanks for asking…I think?
100 years to fruit! Wow!
“I’d be a banyan tree, because it’s a part of my country’s heritage. And many wise people used to sit under banyan trees to preach or meditate. It’d be cool if I was given that sort of importance.”
