If you saw it, would you read it? Glitch by Heather Anastasiu #ReadOrNot

About the front:
I’m not 100% sure this is YA, but well, it’s really cool. First of all, I’m in LOVE with the colors. Can anyone say raspberry and purple? I LOVE them together. Then you have the circuit board looking title and’s semi-sorta attached to the girl. Sci-fi? Then that sun-looking thing on her spine. What’s that? Makes me think of the Matrix a little. Her expression — looking off to the side — makes me think she’ waiting for someone to do something to her. Attached her to that thing on her spine maybe? Can’t read the top text, but that’s okay. Actually, because they are so small it makes me think of text-type like might be on an old computer. It all fits together, at least for me.

Now let’s look at what the back says:

In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network. When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers. As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse. In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?

Yes! I had a total ‘Matrix’ thing going on and while there’s probably even a better movie/book to compare to, that’s where my head was with that cover.

When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity.

Oooh. Isn’t there always a glitch? A ‘ghost in the machine’ as says the professor in iRobot?

Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.

I LOVE paranormal powers so this is really working for me. Love it.

Love it. Caught and deactivated. What a way to build in the motivation to run and stay hidden and probably to have to hide from the powers-that-be who control the Link.

In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

I really hate these marketing ends. It was so much better without it, except to say it’s a new YA trilogy. And now I know for certain that it’s YA.

Where I’d read it
Kindle time! I’m definitely sucked into this one!
