If you saw it, would you read it? Die for Me by Amy Plum

About the front:
Red is such a powerful color. In business men it’s an indication of strength and confidence. Combine red with those words “Would you risk your life for love?” and we’ve got an even deeper desire to find out what’s inside. The girl is beautiful even without seeing her face. The dress is stunning. The scene is clearly Paris. Who wouldn’t want to read a book about love set in the City of Lights? The city of love? I myself must give this one a second glance.

Now let’s look at what the back says:

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier’s parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life–and memories–behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate’s guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he’s a revenant–an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

In this incandescent debut, newcomer Amy Plum has created a powerful paranormal mythology with immortal revenants. The Paris setting comes enchantingly alive as a relentless struggle between good and evil takes place in its streets. Rich with romance, atmosphere, and thrills, Die for Me will leave readers breathlessly awaiting its sequel.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?
Okay, so when I got to the end, I did the whole blah, blah, blah again. Come on marketing people, sell me on the story, by just telling me about it. That being said, I am very, very interested in this. My only concern isn’t that the good guys and bad guys are of the same ilk, but that they are classified as ‘evil’. Aren’t all bad guys evil? Couldn’t we have had something a little more unique? Like, give the evil ones their own name or something. If I liked Zombie stories, I’d be all over this, but unfortunately, Zombies and I part ways pretty fast. It’s just something that makes my skin crawl. And that’s what I interpret with these revenants (I can read French, so I do know what that word actually translates to). So I’m torn because on one hand, most of the blurb is enticing. It’s just the character types that don’t win me over. But that, is just me. This one matches well enough that I’ll bet it will draw loads of readers in.

Where I’d read it
Somewhere with a lot of daylight. 😉
